The Taste of the Eastside, affectionately nicknamed TOTE, returns on Sunday, April 28 for an afternoon of fun and sun with good food and music. The venue, which has been Tote’s home for the past four years, is the beautiful Los Angeles River Center and Gardens. The highly popular yearly food festival showcases the East-Side of Los Angeles and surrounding areas that include the hip neighborhoods of Silverlake, Los Feliz, Atwater Village, Echo Park, Downtown, Highland Park, Eagle Rock and beyond, celebrating the evolution and diversity of the East-Side food scene.
The over 30 vendors represent both emerging new as well as established fixtures. They include Silverlake’s Chinese spot Fat Dragon, the cozy Los Feliz joint Little Dom’s, modern Mediterranean Momed in Atwater Village, Pine and Crane’s newest sister restaurant Joy on York Blvd, plant based newcomer Jewel, poke favorite Sweetfin, the hip Same Same Thai on Sunset, Highland Park’s Californian Café Birdie and French Côté Est Bistro. For dessert, there will be Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Ample Hills Creamery.
Beverages include boutique wines from TOTE’s long time contributor Silver Lake Wines, signature cocktails by Mohawk Bend and plenty of beer – from Greenbar Craft Distillery, Eagle Rock Brewing, El Segundo Brewing Co., Sage Vegan Bistro and Brewery, Frogtown Brewery and Arts District Brewing Co.
KCRW DJ favorites Raul Campos and Garth Trinidad will spin along with live music from Pretzel Logic.
VIP admission opens at 3:00 pm and general admission at 4:00 pm. The event is environmentally friendly, committed to composing, recycling and reducing waste as much as possible.
All proceeds from Taste of the Eastside benefit local organizations, which include Rose Scharlin Cooperative Nursery School, The Pablove Foundation, and FOLAR, Friends of the LA River.
