St Joseph’s Fundraiser

The first Taste of St. Joseph Center –  a food and drink festival to raise funds for St. Joseph Center’s Culinary Program (CTP) will be held on Thursday, February 28, at Playa Studios in Culver City.

Over twenty restaurants will provide  signature menu items. They include familiar Santa Monica names – Art’s Table, Ashland Hill, Blue Plate Oysterette, Border Grill, Huckleberry Bakery and Cafe, Margo’s, Stella Barra, Sunny Blue and Jeni’s Ice Cream along with other Culver City and Westside notables like Butcher’s Daughter, Kogi Korean BBQ, Mar Vista Grab and Go, Makani, Neighbor, Spread The Love, Sunny Spot, Tocaya Playa Vista, Upstairs 2, and Wallflower.

Beverage sponsors include Angel City Brewery, Beam Suntory, Bev Rosé, BoochCraft, Boxed Water, Guayakí Yerba Mate, Pali Wines and Pressed Juicery.

Photo opportunities will be provided by  a Tag Me photo booth and Dunkin’ Donuts donut wall. Guest chef demos and live music round out the programming.

Chef couple Brooke Williamson and Chef Nick Roberts who operate a string of successful Westside restaurants – Da Kiko Kiko, Hudson House, Playa Provisions, The Tripel, and Small Batch Ice Cream – will be honored as Chefs of the Year.  They will demonstrate some of their signature bites and a cocktail.

St Joseph’s CTP program teaches cooking skills to formerly homeless and low-income individuals, preparing them for jobs in the service and food industries. Students are also placed in externships at local hospitality establishments like Bottega Louie, Petit Trois, Sunny Spot, and the Ritz Carlton.
